Susan (Sue) Rae Shy

This page is dedicated to Sha's sister Sue in her memory. She was a wonderful person with a wonderful spirit. Although her life was shortened by a drunk, she touched many lives and many hearts. Her spirit has left the world with much impact and sadness.
Sue was born on April 18, 1959 in Missouri, and was killed on July 19, 1978 in St. Louis County Missouri, by a drunk driver. She attended one year of college at Southwest Missouri State University. During the summer she worked at 6-Flags over Mid-America. She was on her way home from work when she was killed.
Our lives changed forever, learning the true meaning of life and just how fragile it is. We miss her deeply, and not a day goes by that she is not in our hearts. We all cherish the wonderful memories of her special spirit, our daily lives will forever be filled with those precious memories. Sue was and still is our very special "Angel".
Sue taught us all so much during her brief stay here on earth with us. Sue loved and respected everyone unconditionally. She always sought to see only the goodness in people or their actions. Sue loved so much to see adults and children happy and having fun, so much so, that she had planned on dedicating her future college major to Parks and Recreation Administration Management. She enjoyed her summer job at 6-Flags as she felt she served a purpose in helping to make people happy.
Sue had many plans and hopes for the future, never getting to fulfill all of her many dreams. Sue often told our parents, she would marry one day and have 3 boy's, bringing them all over to our parents house for our Dad to teach them Mechanic's which is what our Dad has done for many years. That is just one of her many dreams of what her future might hold.
Sue's favorite song was "Follow you, Follow me" by Genesis, which is playing in the background. Now I understand why she loved that song so much.
We Love and Miss you're kind and generous spirit Sue! Sue will live on forever in our hearts! You'll always be our special Angel Sis!
I had given my sister a little plaque that had the poem below on it, I got it for her because that is truly how Sue lived her life during her brief stay here on earth. It's almost like this poem was written for Sue.
"I shall pass
through this world but once. Any good I can do, or any
kindness that I can show any human being, let me do it now and not
defer it. For I shall not pass this way again." Author Stephen
Grellet
